low back pain
Low back pain is one of the most debilitating life changing chronic conditions in our society today.
A few facts about low back pain. It is estimated that 80 to 100 billion dollars a year is spent on back pain in the United States. Back injuries are the number one cause of lost work time after the common cold. Low back pain is one of the most frequent problems treated by medical doctors, and 40 to 50% of the patients who resort to surgical intervention continue to experience pain after their surgery.
Why is such a debilitating widespread problem treated at best with mediocre results?
In my 21 years in private practice, it is a fact based on several thousand cases of low back pain that the majority of low back pain both acute and especially chronic, is relieved by treating spinal stiffness in the neck! Why? You cannot look at the low back and neck as two completely separate entities. They are parts of a whole called your spinal column. One will not function properly without the other. In this case the source of the low back pain is found in misalignments of the neck.
This is why so many individuals continue to experience low back pain even after many different type of therapies.
The question most frequently asked is why dont more physicians and Chiropractors know this? The answer is simple. Unless your doctor has been specifically trained as a Chiropractor, and trained to identify specific structural abnormalities and restrictions in your spinal joints as the source of your pain, it is an area that would be foreign to them and not part of the their diagnostic workup.
