arthritis in the spine

Many of my patients through the years have initially consulted with me after getting a diagnosis from their medical doctor or specialist of osteoarthritis in the spine or arthritis in the spine. They are told that this is the reason for there pain and there is nothing that can be done about it except medication to relieve the symptoms.

If you investigate the medical literature you will find that there are two main types of arthritis, Rheumatoid and Osteo.

Rheumatoid is an inflammatory process which inflames your joints and causes pain and swelling.

Osteoarthritis is an degenerative process, which does not inflame your joints but causes deterioration.

Osteoarthritis is not an age related disease.  I have seen it on x-rays in someone as young as 24 years old. It is directly related to abnormal structure in your spine and chronic spinal stiffness.

Most of the arthritis in the spinal column is osteoarthritis and doesnt cause pain until the advanced stages of the disease.

Therefore, if you have been told there is nothing that can be done, this is simply not true. I have successfully treated the vast majority of patients with this condition.
